GROUNDS CREW

Number of volunteers: 5-15 volunteers

Summary: Path Home’s interior and outside environment was designed using Trauma Informed Design. Some of the features of Trauma Informed Design you may notice are the curved pathways and the rounded edges of the picket fence, gathering spaces that are flexible, and areas that evoke joy - the playground and the community garden. By tending to our outside grounds (through weeding, pruning, garden harvesting, and other outdoor projects), you are further promoting an inviting space for families to heal from the trauma of homelessness. These opportunities occur rain or shine and you will work closely with the Facilities & Maintenance Manager.

Shifts: Monday, Wednesday, or Friday - mornings and afternoons (2-3 hours)

The Nitty Gritty:

  • Path Home provides gloves, gardening tools, kneeling pads, buckets, and all necessary tools. We’ll inform you if a special tool is needed and you can bring it if you happen to have it (no need to buy anything special).

  • This role entails frequent kneeling, stooping, carrying, and walking. Please reach out if you have concerns.

  • You may pair your volunteer day with an in-kind donation as well. Whether that means each volunteer brings a single item to donate, or if you host an organization-wide donation drive, both options help keep our supply closet stocked with necessities.

Requirements:

  • Dress in comfortable clothing that can get dirty (and wet, if it’s drizzling!)

  • Wear closed toe shoes.

  • Bring a water bottle.

  • No photos or videos of families.

  • Uphold confidentiality. Families’ personal information and stories are not to be shared outside of Path Home.
